Year 5/6 (1 entry per school) & Year 7/8 (1 entry per school)
Placings  -  1st, 2nd and 3rd  in each age group will receive   certificates

SUBJECT/TITLE – Apt/intriguing title for subject, topic chosen targets audience and appeals to their age group
INTRODUCTION – captured audience attention, led on to
give clear idea of speech purpose

BODY – developed main points of speech, sources noted of
researched information, and smooth transition from one idea to
the next, originality in subject development
LANGUAGE – Use of vocabulary, grammar, correct
pronunciation, composition, easily understood.

CONCLUSION – main points summarised,
referred back to introduction, impact on audience.

SPEECH DELIVERY
GESTURES – Used with good effect to emphasise points made,
facial expression and eye contact
VOICE – Well paced, variety in tone, projection,
clarity of diction, appropriate style to type of speech eg speech
of persuasion, entertainment etc

OVERALL EFFECT
Speaker had good stance, spoke out well to audience, notes if
used were not distracting.
Speaker seemed to know the subject well and spoke with
enthusiasm and conviction.
Speech was well researched, easy to follow and had flair.
Kept to the subject of the speech and engaged the audience’s
Interest throughout.  Speech achieved purpose intended?
(ie to entertain, inform, persuade or inspire)
